Trafficking- A Brutal Criminal Activity requires to be stopped in Bangladesh
Women are getting abused & dishonoured in various ways all over the world. Bangladesh isn't exceptional & the country is highly affected by this sensitive matter. We usually talk about Women Rights, Education & Women Empowerment, but how far is it implemented to secure a girl's position in society?
In every year, a huge number of girls becomes the victims of human trafficking. It spreads the curse in our society. The crime of trafficking affects particularly those persons who are socially and economically vulnerable. Economic underdevelopment is a major significant issue that compels some poor girls to keep their trust on illegal human traffickers. Those traffickers ensure girls to provide them proper job & financial security, but ultimately they sell the girls instead of an amount of money.
The main women trafficking route is the Dhaka-Mumbai-Karachi-Dubai route. People on both sides of the Bangladesh Dubai route are involved in this trafficking chain. This crime is spreading across the whole region & gradually engulfing our society & women's security.
Yes it's true that girls from upper middle class are getting education. But the poor girls are left behind, they are compelled to get married with a very elder man than her before reaching their adolescent age. Their family want to get released from the burden of girl child and so get them married in a very early age. After marriage, sometimes parents don't bother to keep any relationship with their daughter.
This is the position of girls in our society, specially who belong to poor family..........
Bangladeshi girls are trafficked and sold to sex industry & sometimes they are sent to Saudi Arab. They're confirmed with a secure job in Arab but finally they're sold to the Arab Sheikhs. They torture those girls in various ways, physically, mentally and sexually. Some are threatened badly & some commit suicide. Parul Aktar belongs to a poor family but after reaching Dubai, she faces a completely different reality. She experienced there an extreme level of torture. At first she was asked to dance, but later she was forcibly taken for prostitution.
Being hopeful of earning money, Sumi & Husna Aktar also reached Dubai but experienced a tragedy where they were tortured by their householders. They've returned home but can our modern society give back their molested & contaminated honour? Or will our society be capable enough to accept again those girls?
More 35 women have released video, urging their release to return home from Saudi Arabia.
A strict action should be taken against all those who are involved in the cycle of women trafficking, smuggling poor or middle-class girls and sell them in brothels for prostitution against their will.
Human trafficking, a 'social evil' is growing now at an alarming rate worldwide. It's important to strengthen the anti-trafficking social activities & network in Bangladesh. A rehabilitation program needs to be created for the rescued children and women.
Last but not least, society and parents should accept the trafficking victims.
